About

Inside Out Learning & Advocacy

Welcome to Inside Out Learning & Advocacy (IOLA), an online store dedicated to providing sensory-friendly clothing and products for neurodivergent children and adults, including those with autism and/or ADHD. Founded by Shelby Watson, Inside Out Learning & Advocacy combines a thoughtfully designed range of products that prioritise comfort, regulation, and style for individuals with sensory needs.

With years of lived experience as well as working with non-speaking and minimally speaking individuals, particularly those with autism, Shelby has gained invaluable insights into what makes children and adults feel at ease. Every item in our collection is crafted to celebrate neurodiversity and inclusivity, offering products that support comfort, encourage self-expression, and spark conversations around acceptance and understanding.

Our sensory clothing and devices are made with soft, non-restrictive materials that help children and adults stay comfortable throughout their day while allowing for personal style.

Together, let’s embrace neurodiversity and champion a world that celebrates every individual’s unique way of being.

About Shelby – Director

Hello, I’m Shelby Watson, the heart behind Inside Out Learning & Advocacy. With a background in Primary, Early Childhood, and Inclusion teaching, my dedication to supporting the neurodivergent community, particularly those with autism, traces back to my childhood.

Growing up with two autistic sisters, I developed a unique understanding of communication, regulation and sensory challenges. I adore my sisters and have always been passionate about ensuring they are included and celebrated. This passion has driven me to create Inside Out Learning & Advocacy, a business that supports the neurodivergent community and embraces the uniqueness and strengths of each individual.

In addition to this, my perspectives and experiences have been enriched through becoming a mother of two children (aged 3 and 6) and working as a kindergarten teacher, neurodiversity and inclusion advocate, babysitter, and even a gymnastics and cheerleading coach.

At Inside Out Learning & Advocacy, I want to build a community where individuals, children and adults alike, can feel comfortable to be themselves. All of our designs are created to spark conversations about neurodiversity so that we can all work together to create a better, more inclusive world for our little people, and for us as well. My long term goal is to continue to be neurodivergent operated and to employ predominately autistic and neurodivergent individuals as we grow.
